Most large centralized retail malls have been struggling since about 2010. Business started to get better for them and most everyone in 2016 or so. Now there are very few that are carrying their mortgages. Some have demolished parts of the lost anchor tenants, such as Sears, spaces and replaced them with rental apartment and condo's as that is what the market now demands in most of the larger cities that have larger corporations taking over more rental space and causing a rental demand by hiring new employees that mainly represent the internet purchasing corporations and most anything to do with computers or software/hardware. And that is now the future from this point on. It's not going to change by much except where the demands of the new employees point that are working for those few getting larger corporations.
