I'd wonder about a bias in the data from many parents who have allergies, and choose to have to no pets, and then their kids who inherit their tendency to allergies. "Correlation does not equal causation" and all that.

Maybe the air around farms is much cleaner and not polluted with all those toxins from cars and industry, and not the germs are preventing, but pollution does cause allergies.

In the late eighties, Every kid with asthma lived in a clean home. I oftened wondered if this was the cause or reaction to the asthma. Also cats have a Toxoplasma gondii parasite in there poop that is sub optimal. Otherwise dirt and real world interaction is GREAT.

A lot of my family has seasonal allergies, but I don't! I wonder if it's to do with the dog that my family got when my brother was young, but before I was born. I do have mild allergies to mold and a pretty bad cat allergy, but I'm totally unbothered by pollen and such

I remember seeing the long original version of this video years ago, my biological mother and father really loved animals and they're absolutely were a bunch of them while she was carrying me
but then I ended up getting adopted out into a pet-free home and ended up with asthma as an allergic reaction to pet dander and pollen
It's become a running joke that it's the first big sign of adoption drama I ever developed
