I find it funny how sometimes I don’t even realise the change because it changes so slowly. It’s only when I go back and look I can see the giant changes 😂

Ichigo’s character development is so underrated because a LOT of his growth comes subtly and not just in one big burst

The way Kubo’s artstyle changed and how expressive it became is a thing I can talk about for hours.

Jojo’s is by far my favorite example of this

It’s like how Toriyamas art style started off as super rounded off and bubbly during Dragon Ball and became very angular and jagged when the Majin Buu Saga came around

This happened with Haikyuu, and it's especially cool cause you see them accomplish their dreams as they grow up :)

I love Kubo's art style and even the early iterations of bleach design look stunning. Bleach is one anime I can watch comfortably with how stunning each character looks.

I have read the manga Akatsuki no Yona two times and you are right, you can see the journey of the mangaka. It's so amazing to be a part of it, you kinda become proud to see how great they artstyle becomes with every chapter

Luffy's is my favorite example of this. You see his first design and you can tell that scrawny looking boy is smiling while looking for adventure, then you look at Wano Luffy's design and you can see how although his facial features barely changed his body has matured and acquired scars that symbolize what he's gone through and probably what's ahead of him.

This is one of my favorite things to do with long running manga. Bc u r 100% right. It's like we r maturing not just with the character sometimes but with the artist too as they refine their skills and grow.

I love when the mangakas change their style (to be a bit more sophisticated really) and their old style starts to become nostalgic 😌

Same when Ken Wakui first started Tokyo Revengers and huge differences when the story progressed with the main character and other.

No but when you’re reading something, and they sometimes put coloured scenes, and then in the end, they switch to fully coloured my heart! ☺️it like seeing them grow up

Also its worth to mention that the artist will try to make the characters looks more like the anime after the manga gets adapted

My favorite part of reading a long running manga is the story.

You can really see this in Fruits Basket. The artist's work at the start is really scratchy and messy but over the volumes it changes and ends up really smooth and clean. It's a little mind blowing to compare the first volume and last volume, you can even see the difference on the covers.

YES THAT'S A THING I LOVE TO SEE :D IT'S SO COOL Sometimes it's subtle differences but it makes everything so much more pretty and it's so cool to see, albeit indirectly, how the artists get comfortable and grow
