I guess I agree with your pointâŠwe should fight to get rid of legacy admissions
When trying to make a system more fair maybe punch up once in a while
[ie, fight to get corporations to pay taxes instead of eliminating welfare]
The fact people talk about affirmative action more than legacy admissions is why corporations pay 0% in taxesâŠthey reason you donât have a job isnât because of immigrates and the reason you didnât get into Harvard isnât because of the 6% black people

Not shocked at all. Same thing happens in hollywood. Most of these minority actors directors are coming from well-connected high income families. None are clawing their way up the ladder they way a aspiring director or actor with no connections or money does. So nothing is really changing. The rich still get richer. But hey at least they have a different skin tone!

The biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action were actually white women, not racial or cultural minorities.
White America somehow convinced Asians that the reason they were not getting into elite schools was because their spots were being taken by Brown and black people. They allowed themselves to be a tool to dismantle the very thing that was helping them.
Somewhere in the mix they thought that they themselves were not minorities or were better than the other minorities.
The abolishment of affirmative action served to decrease the amount of minority admissions across the board while simultaneously increasing the amount of legacy admissions, which was the goal from the start.

This doesnt account for the societal wellbeing of for instance, having more Black female doctors even if those students are from wealthier backgrounds. The postpartum mortality rate is 3x higher for Black women than it is white women, with elevated risk of death even for Black women of higher incomes. Meaning you can a) have a higher income and still have worse heath outcomes if your a poc, and b) more doctors of color are necessary when survey results show many medical students still hold inaccurate beliefs about people of color and people of color report worse care from non POC medical professionals.
While I do think class should supplement race based affirmative action, it could never substitute it
