This documentary begins by discussing the historicity of the Jomsvikings. This is important as there is much academic doubt surrounding their story. While they do seem to have existed, discerning fact from fiction in their story proves difficult given our meager written and archeological records. The main takeaway is that this episode should best be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism. With this in mind, we do our best to stitch various narratives together in the most plausible manner for our presentation.

Wolin in Poland. Great place to visit, in fact thousands flock to it every year. Everything there is recreated, from huts and fully functional ships, to dresses, jewelery, swords etc.

the man that made those rules was on to something. because one the last leaders did not enforced the rules. that was Thorkell the tall brother. the man that the character of the same name in Vinland saga is based, became the leader after his brother disgraced them. besides running and retreating. he betrayed a king's and set him up to be killed. something they never did, they were mercenaries yes, but there word to fight for the person that hired them was absolute. example of this is Thorkell fighting for an English king against basically family. the man who he raised as a child and the child father. it was custom to send your kids to be home with close chieftains. Thorkell was a chieftain.
