Youre (purposefully) misinterpreting what he said.
He recommends ling guns be used for home defense and for lights to be put on the long gun.
In this context, he is specifically talking about conceal carry, and i agree lights are largely useless for conceal carry, for MOST people, in MOST applications.
Firstly, you shouldnt be going stupid places and doing stupid things at night. And secondly, any place you are going at night such as a gas station, is going to have lighting. There are extremely few exceptions to this rule.
If someone wants to say "well i plan for every scenario i can" thats fine, but then why are we focusing on extremely rare and impobable circumstances when most people ignore the simple and obvious stuff, such as the need for a medkit? You can put together a quality medkit for the same price as a quality weapon light, (or cheaper) and yet nobody in the gun space ever talks about it for the most part, when medkits are objectively more useful in more scenarios than guns are. Let alone weapon lights.
