Whether you weigh your chicken breast raw or cooked doesn’t really matter 🍗

Weighing it raw will be a little more accurate as different cooking methods can cause the meat to change weight by different amounts… but there’s not enough variability here for it to be genuinely significant when it comes to weight loss…

The most important thing is that if you’re weighing it raw, you use the raw nutritional info when tracking it in your calorie counting app

And if you’re weighing it cooked, you use the cooked nutritional info

I weigh it and eat it raw. To avoid any potential confusion. I get horribly ill every 2 weeks or something like that, but that must be unrelated

How does cooking increase protein and calories? Are you adding protein powder to your chicken as seasoning

Really great video when I was a new lifter and I tried to track my calories I got so confused about raw and cooked chicken breast because of how much weight was lost through water during cooking

Wait - it’s because 100g of cooked chicken breast is a bigger portion. 100g of raw will become less than 100g when cooked. Important distinction, right?

Best formula for raw to cooked is
To weight it raw, let's say u have 200 g of raw chicken, after cooking its around 140/150g, reason being the water from chicken evaporated,
All the proteins stay the same ,just the weight of the final product changes

cooking nutrition depends on how long and the cooking way

The nutrition label is going based on it being raw since the chicken is raw in the package. I just measure it raw to stay consistent with the label

Actually, I think it matters a little bit. Weighing the meat raw is better because you reduce the number of variabes when you're trying to analyze the food for it's macro nutritional profile. Depending on how you cook the chicken, it could vary the amount in water content, meaning that 2 cooked breasts with the same weight could be more or less dense in those macro nutrients depending on how well you cook it, precisely because there could be a lower or higher amount of water that contributes to the total weight. In my opinion, if you want the most consistency, you should aim to weight it raw all the time because you don't alter anything meaning that it will be much more of the exact same pretty much every time

If I take a raw chicken breast and grill it as is, no added oil in the pan or anything, how does protein get added?
