Split diopter is most commonly used to give a feeling of unease, as shown by the three examples you used. Fun fact, a split diopter lens was used in Toy Story 4. Yes, you read that correctly. The physical lens was modeled in their rendering software specifically for a scene where Gabby Gabby explains to Forky her intentions with Woody. That movie actually uses another modeled lens to great effect. When Woody looks at Bo Peep, they use an anamorphic lens with a wide aperture to get beautiful bokeh balls foe a romanticized look

Super nifty sir!
You dont know what you dont know.
I can think of so many applications for this, and the fanciest camera i own is my phone.
Things like this make me want a proper camera and to explore photo/video-ography//film.
Thanks for sharing!

I hate this, when I see a shot like this in a movie it ruins my suspension of disbelief and I suddenly get shoved back into reality

Wow! I always thought this effect was done in post editing when they wanted to cover up a missing shot and add it in to another scene!

Besides creatively of course, Would this be used when f16 or higher is not an option?
