Wow, yeah, I'm really coming to understand this problem. My upbringing and college schooling valued creativity.
All of working life does not.
And that's very painful for a creative.

Rule of Creativity that works in the society. 80% if whatever you produce must be from the norm of the current time and the 20% must be the creative change.
If you change something TOO much, people cannot make the connection and won't find the creativity appealing.

Creativity as a product is bound by risk. Creativity as imaginings are bound by our deviance. To think outside of your immediate context is inherently out of line.

creativity and adaptability is actually LESS risky...... for the worker.
interestingly enough, it's also less risky for the firm. companies more willing to innovate, change technologies, strategies and the like, are less likely to hold the tools they use firmly, which means when the situation changes suddenly( which is the case in the modern world), there more likely than other firms to pivot in a healthier direction.
TLDR: conformity is statistically and empirically more risky, yet because we are conditioned from birth to conform, it is familiar and thus feels "safe", even when it is the last thing we should do. like a firefighter who hold's onto his ax, as it dooms him to the flames. BTW, this comes from "range" by david epstein, great book.
