My sister raised me cause parents pass away when I was young. Everything they taught her, she taught me to respect my elders and manners. Even now I want her advice π

Even as I became a legal adult I still ran all my decisions by my parents to get their imput.
Truth of the matter is they knew more than I did having already been where I was going as I matured and having them was like having a cheat code to life.
They never gave bad advice and I trusted them implicitly because of the close relationship we had built from my childhood.
Even when it didn't seem like it to me, they always had my best interest at heart and gave me every opporitunity they could to succeed in life.
I obeyed their house rules as a matter of respect and love.
No he-ing and she-ing before marriage, graduate high school at the very least, get a job and do something good with your life.
At 40yrs old I have an immensely deep respect for my parents.
My dad passed away from an ultra rare type of cancer in 2014 and it was the hardest thing I have ever done saying goodbye for now to the man who made the man I am today.

My Dad used his belt. It wasn't until I was 23 and home from the Army that I learned why. A belt is scary, stings like heck but, does no damage. My Dad was afraid to use his hands on us because in WWII he killed a bad guy with one punch. He hit me with that punch when I was 25. I ended up on my ass, 6' behind where I had been standing. He was 59 then.
