"Fallout 4" is an oddly perfect game for Halloween with its eerie atmosphere, chilling creatures, and constant reminders of October's spookier side. The game begins on October 23, 2077—just before nuclear bombs drop, ending the world as we know it and transforming the Commonwealth into a ghoulish wasteland. The Fallout universe is already steeped in '50s-style horror, with skeletal remains decorating most abandoned buildings, haunted by the memories of those who lived there. Imagine traversing through Lexington's Super Duper Mart, feeling the ghostly dread as you sneak past feral ghouls lurking in the shadows. These irradiated horrors, with rotting flesh and unholy speed, resemble Halloween zombies far more than most other enemies, making you wish you had the Grim Reaper's Sprint perk to get out fast. And with Halloween in mind, "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire" has never been more fitting as you rain Molotov cocktails on your enemies under a spooky, crimson sky.

For those embracing their inner Halloween spirit, "Fallout 4" has all the costumes and candy corn you could ever need. Donning a Silver Shroud costume transforms you into a vigilante anti-hero, ready to prowl Boston’s dark alleyways. Meanwhile, raiding Halloween-decorated homes in Sanctuary Hills or scattered trick-or-treat bags offers a bittersweet glimpse of what October festivities were like pre-war. Every item you pick up feels like a spooky treat—Nuka-Cola Quantum glows a ghostly blue, and Blood Packs add a vampire vibe to the post-apocalyptic scavenging. Even weapon choices play into the Halloween theme; wielding the ghastly "Revolutionary Sword" as you hack through radroaches or the splatter-effect "Splattercannon" for some extra gore makes you feel like the Commonwealth’s Michael Myers. And don’t forget Dogmeat, your loyal Halloween hound, who looks a bit like a wolf ready for a spooky costume of his own.

The Commonwealth itself has plenty of haunted spots that make perfect Halloween locations. The Museum of Witchcraft in Salem oozes classic horror vibes, with creaky floorboards, gruesome remnants of past "sacrifices," and a terrifying surprise in the form of a Deathclaw—perfect for a Halloween fright! Add in the Children of Atom lurking in irradiated spots like the glowing sea, and their ghostly chants and radiation-riddled faith make you feel like you’ve stumbled into some twisted, atomic-age cult. Even the soundtrack of songs like "Maybe" and "Uranium Fever" brings a vintage Halloween vibe as you explore. And with the Mysterious Stranger appearing out of nowhere to help you in battle, there's always an unexpected scare or two waiting around every corner.

To be fair, fallout 1 and 2 was set in areas that had been looted an resettled a lot more than the East Coast, so that could be a retroactive reason why we dont see any halloween stuff there

Fallout 76 has a quest where you complete a dead person's bucket list for them by taking pictures with the camera item.

One of them is a haunted house filled with ghouls. Another is a pumpkin decorated house with a pumpkin themed Mr. Handy out in the front.

There's also a lot of jack-o-lanterns and other various decorations everywhere

Fallout 3 was the first to refrence It I believe, and 4 was the first game to really make it somewhat prominent.

There was a gang of raiders you can run into in Fallout 2 that are all wear Halloween costumes. There is also an erotic Halloween Costume store in New Reno.

There is even a reference to 2 Halloween costume parties in the first Fallout game. The children’s one is talked about in a computer terminal and the other one is full of ghouls.

Fallout was never a “Halloween” game but the Halloween holiday does add events to the background and world building.

You can even dress up as a skeleton or a werewolf in Fallout Tactics.

Fallout would be a Halloween type game because of some optional stuff you can get. But then again it would also be considered any holiday themed game because of 76. The some of the special events surrounding the game. There’s holiday themed enemies in The Scorched. Both for Halloween and Christmas. You can get rare themed items and plans. And I haven’t even touched the unholy or sacred land (depending on who you ask) Atomic Shop/Creation Club

I have found more Christmas items in fallout games (till fallout 4) than Halloween ones I'm pretty sure. Which is on point for a 1950s vibe, because Halloween only really started taking off commercially on the level of Christmas far more recently. You used to be able to find more fall themed items than Halloween dĂŠcor back 30 years ago. And only really well off neighborhoods has yard dĂŠcor and lights specifically for Halloween because that's where more people would trick or treat due to safety. Halloween also got big around the release of starwars in 1977 as well and died down over time again. Then the power rangers craze in the 90s. Otherwise it wasn't that big in most places.

I know there's Halloween decorations in fallout 3 but i forget where. If memory serves, the one's that stick with me were attached to the Riley's rangers quest and you found them in the hospital you fight through. Again I could be wrong but im almost positive they're there

76 at least has Pumpkins that you can find at many locations, and on my recent mass play through of New Vegas I can’t find any Halloween stuff
