Yeppp. I have an Irish mum and I spoke in a Irish accent until I was about 7 years old and then it went away. It comes back sometimes whenever I go back home but theres no way he would still have the accent lol.

In first grade my teacher sent a note home asking my parents to come in for a meeting about a speech impediment she thought I had.

I had a British accent when I was little, as I was in an English preschool and year 1 before I moved to a place where I went to school with other American kids (military brat). I lost it fairly quickly, though.

yup! my parents are serbian immigrants and while there are still a couple words i say with an accent (i can’t seem to say “smoking” right lol) i pretty much speak like a stereotypical southern californian 😅. funnily enough i’ve also had people from other areas tell me i speak with a slight mexican accent, which ig makes sense since i live very close to the border and in a predominantly mexican area! something that’s also interesting is i do have a childhood friend who’s dad is south african, and she has a very interesting accent that is a weird mix of american and south african, but none of her other siblings have that accen

I can attest to this. There is a Turkish immigrant in my class who was 2 when she came here to the Netherlands. She speaks perfect Dutch with only a very slight accent due to Turkish being spoken at home and such. Her parents, however, have an extremely thick accent and their Dutch is broken. It is amazing to see how well she speaks Dutch even though school is basically the only place she speaks Dutch.
