At this point the only reason it took this long for TPCi/ect. to go full patent crazy with Pokemon, is that literally no other IP/series was able to be as big a money maker or threat to the Pokemon monopoly until Palworld happened (even if some say arguably Yokai Watch got there first) due to every other attempt being either rushed, too much a clone or fell for the "wow killer" trap. And basically we're learning first-hand that Nintendo and TPCi want to KEEP Pokemon as pretty much the only monster catching/training/trading/battling series the general public plays.

Its also a difference in age. While Nintendo has a ceo that is older than dirt.
Fromsofts ceo would be considered young by most standards and isnt stuck in very old ways of thinking.
It feels very fucked up for me to say this but the best thing for Nintendo right now is the passage of time and the lack of immortality.

Miyazaki is a rare unicorn, he get into the gaming industry after quiting his origianl job, something you dont do in Japan. so even his ideology is a unicorn in the industry. rather than blocking other studio from competing with you, its better to leave room for competion to get new creative ideas.
