I understand tantrums are overstimulating. But please please he needs to learn he can’t run from you in those parking lots. If he can’t understand to hold your hand , he should be carried. Unfortunately a few years ago a 7 yr old boy got ran over in our Target parking lot. He was just a little head of his mom and the guy couldn’t see him. It was a complete accident. We all have the overwhelming days. But even if he’s screaming in the cart it’s for his safety.

If you feel like you need out of the house sometimes just going for a drive counts for us. We may go through a drive through. We may just drive the country roads. But it’s a change of scenery.

Next time you get overwhelmed, hold and look at his precious little hands. How small and innocent, full of life and fairly new to this world. Little ones are learning how to live in this world. They are not giving us a hard time, THEY are having a hard time. Sending much love to all the moms out there. ❤️

Sorry. Where was the chaos after you just stepped outside your home
Your son was not crying, throwing a tantrum etc. He just ran up to your car
He was very well behaved
I think the main problem is parents who have unrealistic expectations of what a child can or will do

Have you tried signing up for children’s programs at your local library? Deacon might enjoy being with other kids.

My kids are 7 & 4 now but I remember when they were toddlers the chaos of outings was always so overstimulating! 😅 I’d see moms who made it look so chill and wonder, how?? (It’s still a little chaotic at 7/4 but getting easier

I really enjoy watching vlogs like these. I don’t have kids, and probably never will. But it’s fun to see what an outing with a toddler looks like. Thanks for sharing. ❤

When a tantrum strikes at this age, try to either ignore or distract. I know it's hard but it works. Hang in there, it will get better 🙂

That's part of raising a toddler. Kids grow up so fast. Enjoy every second even the stressful moments. In a flash they will be 16 driving and never being at home. 😔 I miss my so being small

Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work. Half of the battle of being a great parent is showing up and trying even when it’s hard.

With my third kid, I never let him walk through the store and especially the parking lot. I learned from my mistakes with the first two who unfortunately would run away from me and make it miserable for all of us. Now he is 3 and he does not even ask to get out of the cart because he doesn’t even realize it’s an option at this point. I would recommend keeping toddlers in the cart. My second child almost got hit by a car at 3 years old due to running away from the cart and that was the final straw for me. She never walked outside the cart again until she turned 6 and I was certain she wouldn’t try that again.
