Sitting down is taking care of your baby by making sure the professionals don't have to take care of you

Hey, it looks like he made it until the baby came out!

My husband was great for the delivery of our baby, but the really funny part was when he went to set them down and panicked. "How do I put the baby down?!" The nurse had to help. 😂

To anyone who wants to complain about gender neutral language: the father isn't the only person who can be there in support during the birth, siblings, parents, friends are also options

I made sure this will never happen by marrying a paramedic. Ain't nothing gonna make my husband faint. 😅

A woman I worked with was pushing and her husband suddenly dropped to the floor. Everyone in the room heard the CRACK as his head hit the tile. They called RR, and he was transported to the ED. She and baby were discharged 2 days later, but the new dad was still in the hospital because he had a skull fx and small bleed!

After 24 hrs of supporting my labor, when it was time for the epidural, the nurse pulled up a chair for my husband. He asked "Why?" She just shook her head and said "In case you faint, i cant catch you, i have to hold her still" We chuckled but i saw his face when he sat down, he would have fainted 😂

After my grandmother had several of her kids (at home—this was in the 1920s), my grandfather wanted to watch her give birth—then promptly fainted against the light switch, plunging the room into darkness.

My husband has been a champion in both of my deliveries. He just looked right at that area while the babies were coming out. Later he said though that my vag was like a huge crater after the baby had come out, which was a bit horrifying.😂

I did a lot of deliveries as a family medicine resident. I’ll never forget this delivery during my second year: my patient was getting close to delivering and I was locked in with her, coaching her and encouraging her. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed the nurse suddenly reach out with her right hand (casually, professionally, and without taking her eyes off the patient) and shove my patient’s husband in the chest so that he landed in the big easy chair sitting right behind him! Like an NHL goalie flicking away a shot with his blocker. The nurse pointed out later that the husband was turning green.

My sister squeezed my hand so hard when she was in labor I started to pass out. I couldn’t even pay attention to the birth, it was the feeling of my joints grinding that got me.

I love the hands that come from behind to get him taken care of. Love nurses

My husband was a medic in the USAF. The first time he was supposed to get training in L&D he walked in to a delivery that was under way. The doctor glanced over, saw that all the color had drained from his face, and immediately ordered him out. After that when he was taking his test to be an EMT his answer to "What do you do if the baby is crowning?" Was "Drive faster."
For the record, durning the emergency C-section for our daughter, he stayed by my head and declined to watch the procedure. He knows his limits. (He ended up in the cardio thoracic unit, so it isn't like he couldn't take surgery.)

My husband was there for the csection, he dis great. I asked him afterwards and he said he really didn't like to look because it freaked him out to see his best friend cut open. So he looked at me instead.

I was so glad to see him come in to the OR. By the time i was going into the emergency csection i jist wanted it to be over.

"not making it all the way to the end" makes it sound like they died :p

My dad fainted after they gave me a shot, immediately after I was delivered. My mom was super emotional and thought he died. 😂

I feel bad for the dad's that get crap for fainting. I'm someone who loooves the field of medicine, surgeries, blood doesn't bother me etc on videos, but if I see it in person, even though it doesn't actually scare or gross me out, my body takes over and I get the vasovagal response of fainting. Such a bummer

My husband was worried about this and when we discussed it with my midwife at prenatal classes she just told him to stay away from the "business end" 😅

Imagine saying to your sibling:
You’re so ugly, dad puked when he saw you the first time

My mom was my birth partner (the dad did not want to be in the room because he'd pass out) and I was bleeding heavily after I gave birth. My poor mom had to walk away and passed out in the bathroom. I felt so bad for her even though I was the one losing blood 😂
