A surgical robot I developed was cleared by FDA and released to the US market in 2017.
PhD thesis: I built a robot to perform surgeries on astronauts remotely (funded by NASA).

I'm from physics major, i built robot too... we do learn elecctromagnetism, electrical circuit, sensor and transducer courses, .. my robot and automation project are part of Applied Physics Division,,
I take course from mechanical engineering and computer science too, Drawing Engineering (draw machine, structure etc) , Programming Algorithm to support my skills
besides that we do computational programming too so its not so far from those majors and + we learn All Physics topics like Quanthum mechanic etc
