Hang on guys, what are sensible immigration numbers?

Let me put it to you that we have an aging population in this country, and people are living longer. That’s great. But what it means is, old people are claiming their entitled state benefits much longer. That’s cool too. But those benefits are paid out of the taxes that working people pay. The more people you have claiming state benefits (pension) the more pressure is out on the people paying taxes. The way to relieve that pressure is to have more people paying taxes. This is called the “old age dependency ratio”. The way to get more young people paying more in than they take out is immigration. We need migrants.

Think about it. Migrants are born somewhere else. They were educated somewhere else. So when they get to this country to work, and start paying taxes, they are contributing more than they take out.

Regarding GPs. The problem isn’t that there are more people. The problem is that the government took in the taxes, and the additional taxes from the migrants, but didn’t invest in the health service. We’ve had 14 years of austerity. You should be wondering where the money went. Highest taxes in a generation, loads of migrants paying taxes, zero investment in services. so where did it go?
