Much easier to cut a piece of white board material from Home Depot, the only caveat is it's not magnetic.
We're covering ours with stickers from all over the USA, and when we're finished or if we sell the camper, we plan to pull the covered panels out, frame them and put them inside our cabin. We'll put the original panels back in the fridge.

What is the thickness of the steel you used? Where did you purchase it?

Would have been easier to hang that peel and stick on a vertical surface. That way gravity helps you out.
