You made a solution to a problem that has had a much better solution for absolutely bloody years.

Never do this. Just because the light doesn't directly hit your eyes, you can be sure it will still cause damage. Use a full face mask on your face, not 2 feet away.

Don't do this. LCD panels do not filter the UVC light coming off an arc welder. Your eyes are worth spending a few quid on safety glasses.

This is like taking the airbag out of your car and taping a pillow to your steering wheel instead.

This video is yet another example of why the dislike count should remain visible. Oh wait if I use this then I won't be able to see anything 🍺🤪

You can buy the black filter glass probably for 2 $USD, and no batteries needed

The best thing to do with that display is to turn it into a small monitor. An adapter board for converting the display connector to HDMI and power, along with some casing is all that is needed; no micro-soldering.

Or you could sell the working LCD and buy a proper glasses with that money because this thing probably won't be as efficient as a safety glasses

Сварочная маска с обычным тёмным стеклом - 500 рублей. Стекло 110x90 DIN 11 - 35 рублей. Рыться на свалке и посадить зрение - бесценно.

I thought he's gonna repurpose the LCD screen as a second monitor. I got a bit puzzled when he started welding while still waiting for the finished product, only to find out in the comments that that was the finished product lol.

Я не думаю что жидкие кристаллы внутри дисплея полностью поглощают ультрафиолетовое излучение , хотя если бы и поглощали они от него все равно разлагаются достаточно быстро .

This is dangerous as hell. I'd rather use a phone taped to cardboard.

Там стекло надо защитное с двух сторон, иначе всего на пару сварочных работ хватит ,затем расплатиться
