Tourmaline is another group if gem minerals that comes in a wide range of colours. The most prized variety is the Paraiba Tourmaline with a neon blue colour. The red variety, commonly known as 'rubellite', is also highly prized, especially if it is clear of internal features.

In this video, you see that Tourmaline crystals shows a convex triangular cross section. The black schorl is bi-terminated and Tourmaline crystals almost always have vertical striations on the crystal surface. Some crystals have their colour zoning observable on the cross section. Some have the colour zoning along the crystal length.
