Speaker placement is also VERY overlooked in smaller churches, makes such a different when you understand how sound travels, vertical and horizontal coverage, and the size of your room.

The biggest mistake in my church is that they complain about the bad audio quality even though they have good speakers but someone for some reason thought it was a good idea to set the speakers facing to the ceiling and it sounds horrible

I agree just leave it. Also the biggest issue I’m hearing here is that there is more than one designated sound guy and they’re letting people with no knowledge behind the board. That as bad as putting someone on keys in front of the Church that’s never played. If someone wants to be behind the board they are gonna need to study and show themselves approved.

I fixed a sound once where the volunteer "chief" was simply boosting bass on the preacher vox and we were getting pops feed back etc.. terrible.. I fixed it in seconds, he ignored it and did it again... and thennn I got blamed for interfering... we need a lot of PATIENCE when leading with people in general... (making a long story short)

that green nobs can adjust sound frequenzy
green on the top is for "high" high tones like z zimbals 3500 hertz to 20k hertz
in the middle they called it "mid" it produce vocals sound,
and the green on the bottom can adjust the volume of the bass they call it "low"
its for adjusting low mid hi
that can produce my voice in the microphone, instruments, and music from the mp3 or phone laptop, going to mixer and transfer to speakers.

Way too many people think they know how to work a sound board. They don't. Great video!

funny story. i work at a camp with a theater venue for kids to showcase their talents. they have a nice ass soundboard, some very nice mics and nice speakers. only problem is NONE of them know how to operate that stuff nor set it up. There's always a problem with the mics giving so much feedback from small movements. I'm actually gonna ask if I could just go to the booth myself just to see whats going on, because im like 99% sure they're using the gain knob as volume and prob has every EQ effect raised high

The way he cut back his own voice while moving the es knobs.

Great attention to detail!

My church was pretty wild back in the early 2000s, our youth church had pyrotechnics that were homemade and terrifying lol

Not everyone is a good choice to do sound. If you have no idea what eq does or general sound knowledge, or bad ears for what good sound sounds like or compression does, this position needs teaching. Not everyones wants t I rn into doing sound. You are providing an important part of the service. Be teachable. I have been doing sound and video for a long time. This video hit a lot of important ideals.

Use your ears and not your eyes would be my first advice. Also make sure to research about low and high cut and eq settings as a starting point. Then when you think you know what you’re doing experiment from there.

So I run my churches audio interface and I am the only one who toutches it, the guy before me was Proally in his 50-60’s and I’m only 15 so I reset everything and as church goes on I change it if needed, I’ve been doing it for about a year now so everything is set hoş it needs to be and I may make a few adjustments here and there but there is no order to my board because everything is different

wow I have a mixer just like that but a little bigger. I know very little about mixing, equalizers, mids, highs, lows… I got really frustrated after trying to get the right crisp, bright vocal sound. But after an hour of twisting & turnin & pushing every knob on the board, I gave up😪 And you’re absolutely right. If you have no frickin clue what ur doing, “just leave it.” Haha. The greatest advice I’ve come across so far
