True story.. do you remember the first time you ever heard it? I pick up my 12 year old grandson and a friend from school once a week. They usually pull out their phones and talk about games, etc. I noticed the car was quiet and it took a minute but I realized Stairway was playing and they were listening, almost hypnotized. They stayed quiet through the entire song. When it ended, one kid said " that was something ". They tried to play it down but it was too late. Sometimes you forget how hard the song hits till you watch someone else experience it for the first time.

I know Plant is self-conscious about the way he sounded in some (or perhaps many) Zeppelin songs, but his performance on the studio version of "Stairway" is nothing to apologize for or slink away from. Lyrically, the song is also wonderful, and the music is legendary and speaks for itself. Although I can't say it's my ultimate favorite Zeppelin song, the message in the lyrics is a good one. Especially at this stage of his life, if he's troubled by the song, he might want to take the advice from his own writing, and choose the right "path" or "change the road he's on," and settle any and all accounts that he might regret from his years in Zeppelin, so that he could be at peace with his music and his past.

To be fair, die hard Zeps play less Stairway and more of the other songs in their catalogue 😂
