I knew of a couple that rented an apt. You know you have to get written permission to do major changes. They did and up graded all the appliances fixtures and painting. Well, they received an updated contract where their rent went up an additional $350. With additional fees statinh they didn't have permission to change the apartment that drastically.

I live in New York. I've been living in my neighborhood for nearly half a century. This was always a quiet, safe place. Everyone knew their neighbors, and crime was minimal. Then along came gentrification and greedy investors. Almost everyone on my street was forced out. Every unique building was torn down and replaced by flat gray brick and glass. 90% of the mom & pop shops have been replaced by chain stores. Thanks to these investment companies, we now have rats, muggings, break-ins, and tent cities on the sidewalks. The saddest thing about this is that many of the tents house people who once had apartments here.

Greed. And not from a single person, but from a human made entity, a corporation, whose only purpose is to make as much money as possible by any means possible. Fire the CEO, someone else will take his place. One person might have a change of heart, but you cannot reason with a corporation. It’s a cancer we created.

I just moved into my jeep. I cant pay $3,000. A month for a 1 bedroom apartment in Boston. Hang in there honey. Something has to happen. God will always give us our daily bread.
Our bread will not be bargaining with the devil for a place to live.
