In October, the King approved the name of the organisation formed by combining the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC), the Royal Army Dental Corps (RADC) and Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC).
The historic creation of the new Royal Army Medical Service was marked at Sandhurst with a parade that took place in front of the Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Roly Walker.

Just makes me laugh ,trying to put a positive spin on decreasing numbers of personnel to fill the different regts,so just make them one big regt to solve the problem ,they did this in the infantry ,light infantry cut from 3 to 2 battalions then amalgamated with green jkts and two othe infantry regts to form the Rifles š,and now they are struggling to fill the numbers still ,MOD have got it wrong again ,poloticians having to much involvement in armed forces ,not enough men ,money disgrac

When in the Royal Engineers in the 90's i had a severe infection in my leg, a temperature that was through the roof and was hospitalized. The RAMC and QARANC were amazing and still think fondly of their care to this day.

I had a spinal injury in the Falklands (post conflict) I was dealt with by: Royal Navy helicopter getting me airlifted from San Carlos to Stanley, RAMC dealing with me there, Hercules from Stanley to Brize Norton (I was given plenty of medication so I donāt remember the flight!) and was looked after superbly by QARANC nurses at RAF Wroughton - a hospital where my first child was born five years before! The military medical staff back then were first class. I hope they still are today.

As an ex "Scab" I'm sorry to see the RAMC go as a separate entity but we live in modern times. Good luck to all the lads and lasses, be proud of the history you have and proudly make your own.

Veey few people were asked and nearly everyone that was asked said no. In fact, i do not know anyone who thought it was a good idea. No one wanted this. Its been forced on AMS.
