I've had a clunking noise in the front of my car once which was fixed by loosening then re torquing the wheel nuts. My wheel maybe got a bit loose.
A friend had clunking because a bolt on his brake caliper carrier came loose.
Does the noise go when you press the brakes?
Does the noise change with a change of road speed or engine speed?
Have you had anything done to the car in the last month or two?
Does the noise get louder or quieter when going around a left or right bend?
CV axle trouble starts when accelerating around corners and quiet going straight. If the noise goes when breaking it would suggest brakes, maybe a loose bolt.
Did the noise get progressively that loud or was it instantly that loud after no obvious issue?

Clicking could be something in the wheel (like a rock/nail etc). Could be wheel bearings. Check visually for stuff in tread of tire. If nothing, jack that wheel off the ground and try to shake it. If the wheel moves or cluncks at all, it's a wheel bearing.
Less likely, it could be something brake related, like a chip out of the rotor. Again, not likely but possible.
Sorry for all the other shit answers.
