I have chronic, severe lymphedema. I hate it with all of my heart and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. It is so incredibly difficult to manage. It’s quite literally like having a full-time job and it affects every bit of your life.

I spent 5 years with minimal help from wound care and an infectious disease specialist trying to heal a wound on a lymph limb (my left thigh). I finally had to be hospitalized for 7 weeks after getting sepsis in the wound. I was finally released with home health wound care and physical therapy. It still took another year of bi weekly then weekly visits before I ended up falling 3 times at home and being hospitalized again. If I didn't have kids to fight for, the pain, shame, and frustration would have won a long time ago. It's a struggle I would wish on no one. I take Lasix now daily to keep the fluid under control.

And when the compression doesn't work, you get fluid tablets. Literally happened to me and no matter what I did, compression stockings, having my legs upwards when sleeping, trying to stay off my legs... Nothing and then I was prescribed fluid tablets and within days the fluid was going, a week and a half the fluid was completely gone. And to this day, the doctors including a cardiologist never found out what caused the fluid build up in both of my legs, my feet and all the way to half way up my thighs. I had to get bigger pants because nothing was fitting, that's how bad it was.

For me, the most effective treatment for lymphosarcoma is EXERCISE. Compression helps but exercise is much better.

Bless their heart that looks so painful…. They say jumping on a trampoline and also those crazy old school vibrating exercises machines drain the lymphatic system.
