I think there are two categories to this: there’s actively offensive stuff that somehow went on for a while — I hear that Rising of the Shield Hero has some pretty bad messaging, though I haven’t watched it myself, and then there’s stuff like Sword Att Online — and series that set out to tell a specific story, but did not manage to do so in a convincing manner. An extreme example would be Chargeman Ken, which is a low-budget 1970’s anime consisting of 5-minute shorts with very limited animation and meandering plots, but the characters clearly had effort put into their designs
