I used to live in Hopkinsville, KY. In 1986 to 1991 I had a 75 Dodge Dart Swinger, 23,000mi when I got it at 16 years old. The point of my story is that on the highway to Bowlingreen had a yard about 4 miles past Eastern State Mental Hospital on the left that onky had Mopar in the yard. I got all my modification parts for the Dart in that yard. He had vans and station wagons but he also had an amazing amount of Barracuda, Charger, Challenger, Fury, GTX cars in everything from dented running to shells with trees growing throgh the floor boards. I also got a 1935 Dodge KC pick up cab and frame out of the yard. I slowly built it using cuda, Roadrunner, Daytona, GtX parts. I managed to get a 440 6 pack complet motor and a 426 Hemi motor stored in my shed. My dad sold all my car, star wars and gI joe stuff while I was in USMC boot camp.
It was a 2dr, gold, gold vinyl roof, the split in the middle bench seat with high headrest back, 318 V8, auto transmission that I had removed the 2 barrel intake and carb and replaced with a bunch of parts from one particular car in a yard with a bent frame. I got the 4 brl intake and heads, from a 340 out of a 70 Cuda that was black on black as well as the positraction rear axle replacing my limited slip, the iconic steel mopar wheels with chrome outer ring and plastic center, bucket seats, backbseat, carpet, pistol grip shifter, 4spd trans, sport stearing wheel, gas/brake/clutch pedals and linkage parts. All this went into the Dart. The rear wheels and Cooper tires I chose were too wide for the slight wheel covering profile of my rear wheel well. I solved this by bolting on taller plates to the body and leaf springs, jacking the rear up about 3 inches. I installed anti wheel hope tranction bars, the larger Cuda sway bar, Koni adjustable shocks tuned real stiff. My tires ended up sticking out the sides of the car like 4 inches. My front springs were cut to drop it 1.75 inches for a true redneck hotrod slopping rake, I painted all my chrome flat black, I tented my windows with limo tent. The top band of my windshield said Mopar Racing in white vinyl letters with the tent layered behind it. The rear window across the center in white vinyl said OttRod. My last name is Ott. It was such a southern Redneck, Mullet hair, hot rod.
