In 2016, a 47-year-old man ate a ghost pepper in an eating contest and drank 6 glasses of water to cool off. He proceeded to vomit so much that he tore a hole in his esophagus and was rushed to a hospital where doctors found that his left lung had collapsed. He spent 23 days in the hospital and was sent home with a gastric tube. Violently vomiting can cause this and it's called Boerhaave's syndrome. The mortality rate is surprisingly high. So avoid doing stuff that will make you vomit a lot.
