Actually, It makes much more sense to move for the people that are rolling harder than you. Especially on no gi days where you don’t even know whose who.

It’s wild to me that anyone would ever tell someone else to move. Just be polite

We don't have any rule for this, but the higher belts usually have better awareness about what's happening around them, so in most cases they pause or do something to keep the lower belts safe. I think that's much nicer approach.

Shit rule I'm a brown belt and the best rule is whoever notices first usually the people rolling lighter will move. If i see even white belts having a harder roll I'm moving.

I'm so glad the old bullshit is dying with cult mentality.

100% ego. Ive been to half a dozen gyms that dont have this rule and its never once been an issue. Sounds like your black belts have an attitude problem.

Make sense, white belt should respect the higher belts, in japan they even bow to show respect

I’ve noticed that if I’m rolling with someone and I’m just in half guard, and someone gravitates over to us but they’re in a back take and sub setup, I would have to move. But then again I see where ur coming from. Oss

If it's not for ego, then do the opposite. Upper belts have to move for lower belts. 😂
