Most people want to be individually wealthy and don't want everyone in general to be better off. Not knowing one invites strife and inequality while another makes everyones quality of life better.

I am pro anti monopoly and consumer protection, but thinking an economy can be socially engineered and function better or more fairly over the long term is as rediculous as believing free markets will self regulate or self correct in a way that makes life pleasant for most.
Simple fact is we need a mix of economic models and leadership coupled with a flexible structure that allows us to pivot as circumstances require.
There is no ideal system!

The idea of a market is capable of controlling and balancing everything in the best way in every sense has no ground. It is a dogma.

What she fails to acknowledge is that in EVERY attempt where Socialism was instituted it was not just the markets that were closely controlled, but also the way you think and what you say. She is pie in the sky who has never lived in a Socialist country.

Capitalism seems harmless until it starts controlling education, healthcare and housing.

It keeps you perpetually working with no guarantee of living without work.

Inflation introduced at right intervals ensures that your savings are not good enough.

That's when people start appreciating socialism.

When they look at socialist countries where people live a better life without working like people in capitalist countries, they realize the GDP scam.

In countries like India taxes are very close to developed nations but living standards are far inferior.

With no checks and balances capitalism becomes the modern day slavery.

You need some level of socialism to ensure people get to live a basic minimum level of decent life.

If everything becomes unaffordable to the common man, how is it different from colonialism? where one only gets to survive.

all you need is to have a productive economy without rent seeking. that's literally it. having scientists in charge of anything is just another flavor of fascism.

There is no divide between private and public sectors. They are just a single strategy we have emolyed with different tactics to try to meet the needs of the living. The question is, how well does it meet these needs? And if you understand right wing authoritarian personality traits and the arguments they make and how they are utter bs because their purpose isnā€™t to be correct, itā€™s to defend the hierarchy by creating too much bullshit to contend with

Before you make some assumptions, you need to observe some data, and we have a plenty of it all around he world for your consideration. We have countries with controlled market and free market and can compare their development, quality of life, level of education, happiness index etc. If you don't do this, you are just poetic idealist with you only known ideas in the head, which is a couple of steps from the schizophrenia.

You are not a socialist if you accept capitalism. Putting constrains on capitalism is social democracy.

Constraining capitalism is an oxymoron. 3 letters more than the speaker

I agree however, capitalism does not work well when constrained. It must be noted that change brings with it unintended consequences. Are we ready for that?

That isnā€™t socialism thoughā€¦ thatā€™s just Keynesian capitalist economics.

Socialism is a fantastic form of government. Just look at its many success stories from the past century. Such as, Soviet Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Mao's China. Human rights, creativity, freedom of expression and freedom of religion all really flourish in Socialism and the economies were all so productive!
