Assault rifles are characterized by many things including their ability to select fire, therefore, most repeating rifles including the ones portrayed in red dead redemption 2 are not assault rifles

An "assault rifle" is a military term from the first half of the 20th century. It is defined as a select fire weapon with full auto capability chambered in a mid sized round.

There are no semi auto rifles in RDR2, repeating just means it can fire more than once. Assault Rifle is a term, and first brought in by the Germans when they made the STG-44. That was the first Assault Rifle. Assault in this term means like, to assault a position or area. But people nowadays just don't know shit about anything, so.

If you're going to bring someone on the show to break things down you can at least get someone who knows what they're taking about when it comes to an Armalite Rifle A.R.

The U.S military has bothered to define them man, and thus they have willed the term into existence like it or not.

The U.S. Army defines assault rifles as "short, compact, selective-fire weapons that fire a cartridge intermediate in power between submachine gun and rifle cartridges."[18] In this strict definition, a firearm must have at least the following characteristics to be considered an assault rifle:[2][3][4]

It must be capable of selective fire.
It must have an intermediate-power cartridge: more power than a pistol but less than a standard rifle or battle rifle; examples of intermediate cartridges are the 7.92×33mm Kurz, the 7.62×39mm and 5.56×45mm NATO.
Its ammunition must be supplied from a detachable box magazine.[5]
It must have an effective range of at least 300 metres (330 yards).

The term assault rifle was literally just made for the gun grabbers. There has never been something called an assault rifle their is full auto,semi-auto double action, single action, and a single shot, and each one has more than one word to describe it. It's just like how the United Kingdom uses the word zombie in front of the word "knife" to make it sound more deadly or scary

Not only is everything this guy saying wrong, he is complaining in the comments that nobody is presenting evidence, yet when OP is shown evidence he doesnt even read it and doubles down on his garbage ass take.

What an arrogant person.

Many people don't know anything about weapons and it's concerning.
A rifle gives you more range than a pistol. The biggest advantage all guns have is range. If you let someone too close, you're losing the advantage.
Anyone can build a gun in their garage. With that knowledge out there, any bans are pointless.

I better not google the etymology and history of the term "assault rifle" and find out he is 100% wrong.

Because it sounds like he grew up playing Halo and thought that was where the term comes from.

Repeating does not mean semiautomatic.

Often wrong, but seldom in doubt. An assault rifle is a actual thing. I think you meant assault weapon.

I always heard the term assault rifle was dubbed to make a smaller cartridge sound more fearsome. See at time a 5.56 wasn’t considered large enough to be a battle rifle but the us military wasn’t gonna go back on the m16 so the term assault rifle was coined. It isn’t a battle rifle but an assault rifle.

Mega oof. Repeating rifle does not mean “full semi-automatic” or “full auto”.
