Cartoon Network said the same thing with Steven Universe. They want shows that market to children not young adults. The show might be really popular with adults and some kids might watch it but it doesnât catch the attention of their target audience. They view their main income thru the branding and potential for said brand to make money. If it doesnât meet their target audience and or income threshold then they cancel it and find a new show to keep eyes on their network with a constant rotation of new or flashy cartoons or reruns of cartoons that are already successful (teen titans go) or reboots of nostalgic cartoons ( Mickey, Ariel, Spiderman)

The problem is networks only view shows through streaming anymore.
And the mentality of streaming is
2 seasons, thatâs all you get because they believe that thatâs all that the viewing customers will be willing to watch before they move onto the next thing.
Completely forgetting the fact that the owl house was a narratively driven show.
Very few of them were really slice of life. They were all narratively driven. You needed to watch every episode in order to understand some of the details.
Itâs almost like pulling teeth anymore for shows to get a third season.
For a while, the problem was these micro seasons, cluster of episodes would all at once and then a big hiatus.
Which led to shows becoming disjointed because story arc instead of being given time to breathe, had to rush to start and then complete.
This is what happened to star, vs Steven universe.

Damnit, Disney! TOH was a great show, you should never have cancelled it! I hope you've learned your lesson!
