Completely agree. Up until this point in the story the first time I watched it, I felt sorry for the Beast but certainly didn't see him as a character Belle should trust (which as we clearly see, she doesn't). But coming to help her when he has no obligation to do so and is supposed to be angry with her, is an indication that the Beast has a better side. So Belle decides to give him a second chance - but what I think is very much the opposite to 'Stockholm Syndrome' stories I have seen, the Beast had to make the first move. If he had chased after Belle simply to bring her back, or just left her to shift for herself, Belle would not have come back or looked at him differently.
I've actually always wondered what made the Beast decide to go after Belle. Had he heard the wolves from the tower room? Or had Lumiere, Cogsworrh and Mrs Potts pointed out the potential danger to him? (I've also always thought their role was key to the story development. They are very loyal to the Beast despite his flaws, and as Belle trusts and respects their judgment, it is more reasonable that she would see the Beast as less fearsome than he initially appears 😊

Belle probably thought: “If I’m stuck here forever, I’m going to eventually find out what’s in the West Wing… might as well do it now!”
