Not at all wrong or TAH. Her kid was 16 when she cut mom off, old enough to know there were consequences for her actions. At this point the daughter has to prove herself trustworthy to be around the siblings and that she has really has had a change of heart.

The AH in this situation is the dad. He's a 10/10.
I might have a bit of a "hot take" but OP gets 1 or 2 AH points... she's had a year to decide if she wants to work at rebuilding the relationship (from "last year" to Christmas) & she's been talking to the daughter once a week... possibly stringing her along as if they were working on reconnecting. OP needs to get therapy for the trauma, as does the daughter. They also need to see a therapist together. OP is completely justified to be angry & resentful of the dad & step mom... but the child has been alienated and brainwashed.

Two perspectives here... firstly, most teens think they know what's best for them. So, at the time, she thought she was adult enough to adult without her mum... until she couldn't anymore and probably realised that she missed out on things when things started getting too much.
Secondly, as a mum, could you really stop caring?? I don't know. I'm a mum of an almost 17yo boy and at this point, I don't think that if he tried cutting me off completely that I could stop caring enough to do the same.

I bet the daughter eventually apologizes.. I hope it's authentic whenever it comes. I don't think anyone is an asshole so much as hurting and acting according to the hurt.

It's tough, if you are able to you may want to try seeing her solo at first. There's no need to let any lingering alienation angst to infect your young kids. They are pre teens & do NOT need the ammo. Some of these alienated kids want or need to project the enforced narrative (in order to preserve their foundation of personality)..
