A lot of folks seem to give up their dog or put them down once they get old because they need a lot of extra care. I made the promise to him years ago that as long as he is happy I will do whatever it takes to keep him around and enjoying life.
At this point we're only taking short 5-10 minute walks around the property, we using a ramp and not stairs, and definitely having our fair share of accidents but we've managed to figure out ways to deal with just about everything that has been through at us.
We still love cuddles, playing tug, watching the birds and the chipmunks, and overall goofing around together so why would anyone want to give this up? Kudos to all of you out there caring for senior dogs and knowing that all the extra time and energy is worth every minute!
