Checkmate patterns like this really show the importance of having an intact pawn structure in front of your king. If the doubled pawns weren't there, this kind of checkmate would be far more difficult. If the pawn was still on the G file jnstead of doubled, all you would have to do is advance it to G6 and the checkmate would be thwarted.
Granted, in this position you would lose your rook, but still...
