Eggs were here before chickens ever were.... so yeah, the egg came before the chicken, what laid that chicken egg, was something like a chicken, but not quite. Its called evolution and its actually proven and traceable, unlike made up storybooks

The chicken and egg question has an obvious answer if you think for more than 10 seconds and have a rudimentary understanding of evolution. Whatever evolved into a chicken laid the first egg that a chicken came from.
Now, they were so similar at that point we would probably call them both chickens, but whatever common ancestor chickens have would have slowly changed over millenia to become a chicken
