You're going to be seeing bulkier rowers with a focus on sprint performances and shorter bursts of effort. Probably quite a bit faster stroke rates and less of emphasis on technique because the impact of worse technique is outweighed by the benifit of raw power

In one word: Stupid. If you can’t provide a proper 2K rowing venue, you probably shouldn’t be hosting the Olympics. I don’t see anyone shortening the 400 meter hurdles to 300.
