An alternative option for tip #2 is to use 3D shapes.
While edit points gets the job done, certain images will look off on a tilted surface. Additionally, you could accidentally add a point, making the shape a pentagon.
With 3D Format/Effects (Right click image -> Format Picture -> Effects -> 3-D Format), you can adjust the depth, rotation, perspective, the lighting, and even add a 3-D outline with the "contour" function!
The 3-D Format + Rotation method has its benefits and drawbacks - mainly that while it looks much better when done right, it doesn't work with the morph transition very well, especially when translating one shape into another.
Both ways have their use, but I wanted to throw in my own two cents and add another very useful tip!
