Shae was amazing and deserved WAY better than the ending that she got. A strong woman who suffered, but still managed to be kind, who survived the horrific abuse of countless men in a society that saw her as less valuable than livestock. She deserved a happy ending, living in her own house, in comfort, never having to rely on a man’s kindness ever again.

Now that some time has passed and emotions cooled off a little, I have to say the way that final reveal about Tywin was written in both the show and the books is just downright outlandish. And I'm not talking about the manner of his death at all, that I'm fine with.
It's that making him not just moustache-twirling level of evil (even towards his son) but also a massive hypocrite was simply unnecessary. The fact he schemes to have his child executed after a bogus public trial where Lannisters' dirty laundry gets aired (isn't a public scandal precisely what he was trying to avoid in the first place when it comes to Tyrion and his actions?) when he could simply have his son assassinated also severely undermines his tremendous intellect. What we're left with is basically a joke of a character whom the writers decided to humiliate in what can be best described as Greek tragedy-style catharsis for the masses. They turned him from the most intimidating adversary in the series into a living caricature in one fell swoop. It felt like Martin and showrunners went for an overkill with the Shae bit because that's what the crowds wanted to see.
