Do you know the Echo red flags for non-dilated LV cardiomyopathy?
A new CMP entity in the guidelines! The 2023 ESC CMP Guidelines introduced non-dilated LV cardiomyopathy (NDLVC).
If you perfrom echo you should know the red flag: Regional LV wall thinning / akinesia in the absence of CAD. These regions often represent fibrosis, providing substrate for ventricular arrhythmias and SCD. Guideline impact: patients with these findings may qualify for ICD implantation even if EF is preserved. Echo is often the first tool to detect this subtle but high-risk phenotype.
