Young sis, the reason is because during colonization, the Europeans powers raped the continent of Africa of much of its vast resources and shipped those resources back to the West. During the process of this exploitation of both people and resources, after colonization ended, many of Africa's leaders took power either through brutal force or installed as puppets by the Western powers. Many of them mimicked the brutality and exploitation that transpired during colonization and oppressed major portions of their own people. Wealth was accumulated but only in the hands of a select few. But on a brighter note, entrepreneurship and the new wave of online opportunities have given many people the chance to acquire wealth and improve their quality of life.
