Put a swivel both ends of the cable it will stop the cable twisting

If you can l, add a swivel head or link so that it doesn’t keep twisting on cable or it will bind up and break. Awesome design tho

I wonder if you could’ve done one of those kits that are like 1000 bucks and just made your own for a lot cheaper? Don’t they just put like a gear on the stator and then turn the engine over that way?
I wonder if there’s any like Yamaha snowmobile engines or anything that have electric start kits that could be retrofitted to the dirtbike? I just can only foresee tangling issues overtime with something like this with a cable. Even with the swivels. That cable is gonna get destroyed after Some undetermined amount of time. I love what you’re doing, and I don’t want to discourage you by any means and I’m not discouraging it keep going, but I just wonder if there’s an easier way. I found some made for arctic cats which use a Yamaha engine. I don’t know enough about Yamaha’s to say whether or not any of it will fit on yours, but it looks likeat least on the $1100 kit you can buy they’re just putting a gear on the stater and turning it with an electric motor.

Why not just use a standard cam to translate a carrier in a linear motion setup.
It’s would provide a much more structured and reliable motion and reduce wear significantly.
Is there a reason it’s being done like this?

What about putting the swivel were the eye of the cables connecte some that has a bearing around a post for the eye that u can bolt on the motors cog I guess ued call it and then the cable would spin as need and re set like the swivel setup u have now

As a machinist you have no idea how lucky you are thay drill bit didmt spin. The worst cut I've ever got was from reaching past a drill and I sliced into my forearm. Yoi could just design a normal shaped cable pulley

You need the head to have a swivel on the cable like a dog leash style so that the cable never binds
