This stock has great figure but it was hidden by years of rough treatment. With some sandpaper, and a little time and effort, I brought out the original wood grain again. Looks great IMHO

Mike that stock has some real potential character in the wood. You can always stain it for a darker, deeper finish if desired. You can obtain a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment finishing an old stock (assuming one has the time). Thanks for sharing!

Some of us have of course looked into schooling for gunsmiths. Even at 65 I’ve day dreamed about it. I
I was an Ironworker and know I can build, fix, repair, or fabricate anything.
Done my fair share fiddling with MY guns.
Thoroughly Enjoy refinishing a rifle stock.
I like to finish with boiled Linseed oil.
