Definitely a good idea.
I emailed the Labour PPC for my area, and was thoroughly gutted when her reply was "Labour doesn't think additional taxation of the rich will do what's necessary. We're looking to increase productivity etc etc.. " π€¦ββ

As some one who did work experience in a MP office, personalize letters with your own spin. If the exact same letter can in 20 times it carried little more weight than one letter. But if 10 personalized letters came in, it grabbed attention.

My local conservative MP is the director for 3 building firms and doesn't reply to emails, lol.

Writing to your MP works, but
1. Template letters or email campaigns get template responses;
2. Email campaigns, where you press a button to sign , give you tracking of letter numbers, and potentially data of people who you can contact for further actions.
3. The most impactful thing you can do is to visit your MP at a surgery.
4. At election time, when you know who the candidates are, you can ask for pledges or their positions on something. You can then share the responses with your followers.

Gary, telling your MP is akin to telling the rich to tax themselves and their corporate friends. An independent party with two main requirements.
1) Tax Wealth/ corporations
2) Deal with housing crisis
Eg limit ownership 100, 50, 10 units
and or build more houses with public
transport infrastructure

Don't petitions have to be debated in parliament. Wealth tax on assets? Non-doms can threaten to leave. They can't move their assets.

You need a coalition Gary. Lots of good ideas and action floating around, from the renter's unions, authors like Grace Blakeley and broadcasters like Carol Vorderman. We need a Wealth Inequality coalition and a summit led by the minds and activists doing good things.
