The best part is this isnt even exaggerated. This is a real thing that happens, people that pay for health insurance are now paying more then people who arent paying for health insurance in some states.

Yeah, when he took it back, and said "I must have given you the wrong one" i expected him to hand back an even more expensive invoice πŸ˜‚

ONLY 9k? Dude, I got 1400 for a doctor mocking me for using a mobility cane, listening to my breathing for 15s, and then telling me I had pneumonia. He also ignored my allergen list and prescribed me not one but two things I was allergic to.

Insurance is cool cuz even when you have it, it still feels like you don’t.

Meanwhile here in France, when a relative of mine had balls pain and thought this might be a testicular torsion given how violent the pain was, and went to the ER, it only costed 17.50€ ($19.81) and all of it was covered by insurance.

Worst thing is that even here we think insurances company are scamming us, that's saying

It cost me 7k for a hurting stomach. Turned out it was something that just needed "bed rest"

Always, and I do mean ALWAYS, ask them for a list of everything they are charging you for and what amount each INDIVIDUAL charge is. Hospitals love to scam people, if you ask they sometimes lower the price to avoid having to give the list. Even then ask for a list for the new bill, see how low it will go.

This won't always work but better to be sure, than not sure.

Unrealistic - it should've costed $90,000.

People will see this and think the issue is the discount to people without insurance, but the real bad guys here are insurance companies for not doing what they're supposed to do

As someone who lives in the state of California, I can confirm that this is how insurance works.
