When my husband and I returned to San Antonio, in 1997, we joined our new parish, ready to volunteer as we had in some previous parishes. We served as lectors and I taught CCD, for about two years, but the Mass was treated as a performance, with increasing emphasis on music as a show, and priests as stand up comedians. It was as if the Mass itself was an afterthought, something to be rushed after the entertainment portion of the gathering. With the help of a good deacon, we eventually found a personal parish in which the Mass was offered with deep reverence, in an atmosphere of holiness. All the sacraments were treated with great gravity, and we knew this was to be our new parish home.

I totally agree the sacredness of the Liturgy should not be lost, however after attending Latin Mass services for over 5 weeks now. I started to notice how much people focus more on what is proper and what is not to do during Mass, a priest giving a homily totally disconnected from reality, ostentatious golden clothing that has little or no connection how our Savior Jesus Christ really looked like in 1st Century Palestine. This Pre-Vatican 2 movement is looking more and more like cult! Vatican 2 in many ways went too far but going back to Pre Vatican 2 is not the solution at all! I prefer to see a very simple and humble priest which would connect me more to the humble loving simple Jesus of Nazareth, the Jewish Messiah, Son of God. I don't connect at all to a Roman Emperor look how these Pre Vatican 2 Priests want us to believe that's the way a traditional Mass should look! Surely that's not the way first Christians looked like. That which they portray is the Roman Empire look not true Christianity!

I don’t expect church to be fun but the music we sing to praise God was fun and meaningful to me. Then it all changed so the music wouldn’t be fun to sing along to. I miss singing the Glory to God and Our God is an Awesome God.

Exercise can be fun. If the faithful don't enjoy the Mass, maybe they are not properly engaged or participating in the mystery of the Mass?

One time Fr Casey said that most people mean solemnity when they mean reverence but he thinks there’s room for joy and not just solemnity and idk man it’s like the crucifixion of Jesus in front of me at Mass

Many Young people find Jesus in Musik or in a word or in many little Things , wich are Happening there now.
For my 18 years old son , who doesn‘t belive in God , ist amazing .
For me it is important because he is there and God also .
So , That is the beggining for many people to believe.

When "fun" is the primary objective, and when "fun" means immediate gratification of physical or emotional urges, with consideration only for the short term, this holds. In charity, I think we can reason that this is what Brian is referring to- no need to dissect all of the possible particulars. But yes, worship of God is due to God, and also is the willing receipt of God's offer of love, which aligns us to Him, thus fulfilling us; and that is quite possibly its own form of pleasure. "Lord, You have no need of our praise, but it is our desire to thank You that is itself Your gift."
