I repotted these periwinkles with an organic potting soil. I used a coco fiber base to keep the soil from washing away. Over the next 23 days I irrigated the left periwinkle with water and the right periwinkle with liquid compost. I make the liquid compost from my vegetable food scraps with my AeromatiCo food composter. My composter runs year round in my garage using a continuous aerobic process. It takes a few weeks for the effects to be apparent, but the liquid compost leads to faster growth and a healthier plant. The liquid compost also increases the water holding capacity of the soil and excellerates root growth which is apparent when the plants are pulled from the pots.
