In all truthfulness, a better way(in My estimation) of saying it, is that "Man is born with fallen nature." It seems to Me that the calvinist love "buzz words and phrases" such as "Adamic Nature" and "Sin Nature." Man sins because He WILLS TO; and every man with a fallen nature(of which all are born with) will ACT upon that fallen nature at some point or another; and because of that, He needs a SAVIOR to SET HIM FREE FROM THE FALLEN NATURE and BE BORN FROM ABOVE FROM(John 3:3).

In my research, original sin means that you are responsible for Adam's sin. It's true that we all sin, but that is different from original sin. God isn't holding us responsible for Adam's sin, there are tons of verses that say the only one accountable for their sins is themselves. However, we have to deal with the curse that Adam's sin brought on. Original sin is also only really a western view. It's important to define what terms are so we can actually have a dialouge. I think what most people think when they hear original sin is that there was a "first" sin and so now we all sin, so they assume that's right.

Word of Faith teaching is not mainstream on the all sufficient redeeming sacrifice of Jesus when he died on the cross ! Just ask Bishop Keith Butler in Detroit, I used to be a member of his church until I heard him say " It wasn't enough for Jesus to die on the cross, he had to do more". Butler's spiritual father was Hagin and they both had and has error in their ministries because Butler in particular preaches that Jesus had to be dragged to hell by the devil when he died on the cross to be beaten and tortured for 3 days in hell in order to finalize our salvation. Butler is adding his imagination to the gospel that Paul preached.Jesus never ever told his disciples or anyone else that he had to keep getting beat up and tortured in hell after he died on the cross. Why did Jesus say "It is finished"as he expired on his cross if his torture was to continue in hell? The Apostle Paul never said such nonsense in his defense and explanation of what the gospel is in his account in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Butler teaches a message that is false and full of error and should be repudiated. He has allowed a spirit of error in his church and ministry as stated in 1 John 4:6 and this spirit of error overflows in other areas of his ministry . I promptly gathered my family and walked out of his church after hearing such false doctrine!!!

Vocabulary really messes up topics like this. To free will theists (ie: the vast majority of Christianity) original sin means the fall. To calvinists it means total depravity so complete no one even wants to be saved unless God totally gives them a new heart first, essentially saving them before they even confess/repent/believe... backwards. But in this messy ven diagram it gets worse. Some early calvinists, and medieval catholics, ALSO hold that original sin means not only total depravity, but tgat every person, from birth, is also GUILTY of Adam's sin. You essentially don't go to hell because you sinned at all, but because you're HUMAN. Because you are guilty before you take yoir furst breath. Hence the Augustinian argument for infant baptism, and why catholics, Lutherans and Presbyterians do it. I think Anglicans and EO don't believe in inherited guilt, they're just traditional by way of ritual.
